Final Stop

Framed by their own end zone, Memorial was stuffed by the Middleton defense on the last play of the Cardinal's undefeated season!
Despite the low lighting, I like this shot.

Almost There

Every time Memorial seemed to move the ball, Middleton defense was there to stop the progress. The rain stopped, Memorial was stopped, the defense never stopped. [jbp 2007]

Nowhere to Hide

Nowhere to Hide: Memorial's QB was nearly sacked for a safety. They ended up punting the ball. [jbp 2007]

Lot of Field, Not Much Running Room

Lot of Field, Not Much Running Room: Middleton defense and special teams made the rainy home game on the side field miserable for Memorial. [jbp 2007]

Half a Game to 9-0 (undefeated!)

Middleton 26 - Memorial 6

The rainy day was like opening day. It made photography with the Canon SLR challenging. Warming up was more enthusiastic than it appears here. [jbp 2007]

Sun Sets on a Perfect Season

At the end of the East game, the clouds seemed to move aside for the sun to shine on the post-game team meeting at the end zone. Only one at home to have a perfect season. [jbp 2007]

Cardinals Defense Flying High

East offense could not do very much against the Cardnial defense. I like this shot a lot. The setting sun breaking through the clouds brought enough light. [jbp 2007]

The Sun Shines on Coach

As the setting sun broke through the clouds, it shined upon the Middleton coach who was still very involved in the action of the undefeated road season. [jbp 2007]

Open Season on RBs and QBs

As the Cardinals defense moved closer to the undefeated season, the neon open sign seemed appropriate for this tackle and fumble recovery behind the line of scrimmage. [jbp 2007]

AWOOF Interception

Does it seem fair when three Cardinals defend a pass? Of course it was intercepted! [jbp 2007]

Open Field Goal

The neon open sign at the left edge of this shot seemed to beckon the kicker. I tried to get a shot of the ball in the air, hence the framing of this shot. [jbp 2007]

Heads in the Clouds?

Middleton 27 - East 6

It is like they practiced lining up like this. Last road game on another practice field on a cloudy day fall day. The helmets almost seemed to be part of the sky.

Number 41 Encouters a Saint

Stadium shadows can create dramitci effects. Here the Saints were returning a kick off into the shadows. Number 41 is only one step away from stopping the Saint's progress. Seemed poetic in this non-conference blow out. [jbp 2007]

A Saint Can Only Watch

Touchdown! and the Saint player can only watch as the ball is caught with no one to stop the score as the line judge watches from the side. [jbp 2007]

Tackled Out of Bounds

Middleton 35 - SWCHA 0
In the non-conference game with the Saints of the Southern Wisconsin Christian Homeschool Association, Middleton was able to get its third shut-out of the year. When this play was breaking, it looked like a touchdown, but Middleton was tackled out of bounds. So the end zone is in focus, I think the slightly out of focus as they are piling up makes a great shot. [jbp 2007]

Number Two Watches

This is another of my favorite shots. Number Two seemed to be watching in awe of the soaring football above everyone's heads. I though I might catch a blocked pass, by Middleton quarterback was able to release the pass. [jbp 2007]

Running on a Beaten Field

The lighting (with such string shadows) was tricky, but the Middleton running went well. The anticipation of at least 10 more yards seemed to be fullfilled as the West High School varsity team (in shorts on the opposing sideline) seemd concerned. [jbp 2007]

Blinded by the Light

Middleton 16 - West 0
West High School hosted the game on the pratice field next to the school. It created a intimacy for spectators and strong shadows. Unfortunately, the sun seemed to blind the West side line (look across the field). The ball was just hiked for a quarterback sneak.

Touchdown Concessions

Touchdown! in front of the concessions building seemed appropriate. [jbp 2007]

Played Tough at Middleton

This was a tough games at times. Look at the visitor sideline, Lafollete HIgh School has some tough players. [jbp 2007]

Up For Grabs

Middleton 32 - LaFollette 20
By far, the closest game of the year. The street sign appears to be giving some direction in this shot. [jbp 2007]

Wide Open

This also shows the empty visitor stands when Beloit lost in Middleton.
Yes, that is my son who is wide open on his receiver route. [jbp 2007]

Injury Time Out

This was injury to insult when oneof the Beloit players broke a leg. Despite the tragic circumstance, this is one of my favorite shots. [jbp 2007]

Cardinal Formation

Middleton 38 - Beloit 6
Beloit had a hard time showing up in Middleton. The stands on the visitor side were almost empty. The Cardinal Formation ready for take off on a kick off. One of my personal favorite shots. [jbp 2007]

Ready to Play

"Send me in coach, I'm ready to play!" - even if the coach had to think of the play to send in against Sun Prairie.
